Maybe I could add something.
Would be nice if circles could federate especially public ones. You could then similarily to mastodon, have a list (directory) with all public circles hosted locally but also view all public circles accross all federated nextcloud instances.
Probably this would require similar solution to 'global address book' used on personal settings so a centralized list somewhere, but could also be just listing public circles only from known 'trusted' instances.

Having circles beyond single nextcloud instance would be really great and could boost certain communities from the simple fact of being discoverable by others.

Well, you can already link circles from different instances of nextcloud, but there is no public listing right now.
