"Download" in context menu via three dots disappeared in iOS Nextcloud app #2900
Comments
I also found this problem. Is this removed intentionally or is it caused by some problem? |
Download was removed intentionally in an effort to clean up this sheet. You can download the file from Share. |
@mpivchev It is indeed possible to download files locally through sharing, but I feel that such an operation is inconvenient. |
I see, maybe we cleaned up the sheet a bit too much. Will discuss this internally and update you. |
That's great, thank you very much |
@ncheng89 what's the purpose about Download ? |
@mpivchev Because my videos are uploaded to nextcloud from my computer, sometimes I need to re-edit the videos on my mobile phone, so I need to download them to my mobile phone for editing and processing, or download them from nextcloud and share the files with other apps. |
You can use "Share" and then select what do you want. |
Hello @marinofaggiana , I'm disappointed to see my issue as closed this morning... The big inconvenient of "Share" option: we have to wait for the end of download file before selecting destination file due to absence of background download. Because each time I had to swap to another application during download, I've got red banner "200: Transfer Stopped" . That's why the "Download" option worked very fine in background task when I'm working another App in iOS, I'm infographist/photographer and works only on iPad M1 with nextcloud iOS app to show my works to clients. Themselves are disappointed to lost "Download" icon in smartphones for same reason: they had to wait ~100 photos pack without left Nextcloud app... I've suggested them to use Safari which works very fine with its background download... Following remarks of @mpivchev : it's possible to reduce police size or reduce white space between texts to get sufficient vertical space to insert "Download" or make possible to maintain background downloading file from "Share" after swapping to another application. I've noticed missing circle progress bar of "downloading" panel opened with "Share": it's stay grey. Hope my suggestions convinced you to put iOS Nextcloud more reliable and easy to use. regards |
Hi @dwprod38 , if you want the data already available (fo share) set it as available offline. |
Hi @marinofaggiana, no more progress download available : only three dots (see picture) unlike speed transfer with download option... I can't check if something is downloading correctly: progress circle stay grey without animation... (on safari, speed download and progress display works fine) |

Actual behaviour
Hello,
In the iOS NextCloud app: "Download" in context menu via three dots is disappeared !??!! I've tried to use Safari on iphone : in NextCloud web interface, the "Download" from context menu (three dots) of each file is present and works fine....
I've tried on two different Nextcloud servers: version 27.1.5 (entreprise) and 28.0.4 (private at home): same issue on iOS NextCloud app with missing "Download" icon...
Same issue on iPadOS...
