Steps to reproduce

On 12.0.4

  1. Share via email
  2. Click on the share's 3-dots
  3. Set a password

Expected behaviour

A password should be set and I should get a confirmation message

Actual behaviour

  • Borders of the field turn red
  • The field gets a tooltip saying "The given object name is invalid"
  • No idea if the password has been set
  • Closing a re-opening the popover menu breaks the tooltip which is then attached to the top of the popover

I think this happens only if you've shared the folder via link first.

I think, the following issue could be related to this:

nextcloud/groupfolders#75

I experienced the same problem when trying to share a subfolder of a shared folder in Nextcloud 13.0.0.

Sharing by mail works, but when I try to change the password of this share, I get the error "The given object name is invalid". The e-mail with the correct new password is send out, but the password is not changed, so the old password ist still active.

This problem only occurs, if in the global admin settings in the sharing settings the checkbox for sending the passwords by e-mail is checked. When sending the passwords by e-mail ist deactivated, everything works without problems.

I think it's related to or the same as #8523 and #2956

Can be reproduced on our internal Nextcloud, too.

@oparoz Could you reproduce this with the new sharing drop down?

Can't reproduce on 14.0.10 and seem to be fixed by #12491
