Custom server-side search: stuck after clicking on "No items found"

In a "Custom server-side search":

1. Look for some non existing item

2. The dropdown will pop with a label saying "No items found". Click it.

Expected behaviour

Everything should keep working normally.

Actual behaviour

The component is stuck, you can no longer type anything. To unstuck it, you need to click outside the component and then go back into it again.
