Incremental search is killing performance

I have a file open which is on 10G. When I use Ctrl F to search for a certain word, an incremental search will be made and after I have input the first letters of the search term the application hangs forever.

My experience every time I paste a string into the CTRL+F box only to find it has extra space on the end (from my source) and I have to wait like 30+ seconds before I can backspace it off. But I found under Tools > Options you can turn this off! Do that. There's a lack of help mind you as to what all those options mean but they can sort of be divined.

Nice suggestion, but if you ask me, there should be no setting that makes the application hang.

Agreed. The default scenario is sub optimal currently. Causing a rather poor UX.
