Nicolò Lai

⚡ Briefly:

As a Ph.D. candidate in Physics at the University of Padova, my journey continues at the exciting intersection of High Energy Physics and Machine Learning. Building on my foundation in Physics of Data and my experience in data analysis, statistics, particle detectors, and data acquisition electronics, I am now deeply involved in the CMS collaboration at the CERN LHC. My current work is centered around the search for New Physics phenomena, leveraging cutting-edge machine learning-based statistical anomaly detection techniques.

👉 Basic informations:

I was born

  • on April 30th, 1999
  • in Treviso (TV), Italy

Currently living in

  • Padua (PD), Italy

🎓 M.Sc. in Physics of Data @ UniPd

The Physics of Data master's degree program provided me with the opportunity to enhance my machine learning and data analysis skills while I advanced my career in particle physics. This program adopted a project-based approach, which allowed me to gain both a theoretical understanding and practical experience in applying data science tools to high energy physics problems. In addition, it provided a solid foundation to support my research journey in this field.

🎓 B.Sc. in Physics @ UniPd:

The Bachelor's degree in Physics has helped me to develop a strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and statistics. Furthermore, it has instilled in me a problem-solving mindset, enabling me to tackle complex challenges effectively by utilizing my skills in multiple disciplines simultaneously.
