🔦 Feature: Support duplicate base for external data source #8455
Comments
Duplicate base feature is not supported for external data sources by design currently |
@dstala How can administrators setup more granular access control in the UI, where some users can edit certain tables and read certain tables, and other users can edit different tables and read other tables. Right now, there is only one editor role and one viewer role for the entire base. I was trying to setup multiple bases, each with their own set of editors and readers, and to vary the UI access control settings. But now you are confirming that sharing base features is not possible by design |
Table level access control is not available currently. You can upvote & track it further here 🔦 Feature: Giving Specific Access to different tables. |
Duplicate base would duplicate tables, views & records but not external data source connections |
Please confirm if bug report does NOT exist already ?
Steps to reproduce ?
A base with an External Datasource, and the external data source has multiple tables. At least one table has a formula column, relationships to other tables in the same database, and additional views configured.
When running the "Duplicate" button, the external Datasources are not copied. Furthermore, when manually adding the External Datasource, the views, formulas, and relationships do not load/propograte, resulting in a broken base that is not usable and nonfunctioning
Desired Behavior
Multiple bases should be able to share the same External Datasource, and when duplicating a base, all metadata associated with a Datasource like views, formulas, relationships should propagate correctly.
