The Express application has been finalised and merged and can be viewed here. It contains details of exactly what will be joining initially as part of the incubation process, including the current jshttp, expressjs and pillarjs GitHub organisations, the strongloop/express repository (which has already been moved to expressjs/express and Express documentation. The project will form a Technical Comittee (TC) which will be mentored by the Node.js Foundation TSC during incubation in order to set up the contribution governance structures required. The incubation process will also involve clarifying exactly which of the many repositories (npm packages) will be included at graduation. Discussions are already underway to kick start the TC from existing Express collaborators and TSC mentors. @Fishrock123, who has previously been involved in the project and is now as TSC member, along with @jasnell from IBM who has driven the process so far, will be serving in a mentor role, with additional support from other TSC members as required. We'll update here with details on how you can get involved in Express as it moves forward! |
This is almost a year in incubation now. Will Express ever move beyond an incubating project? Any kind of status update would be great. |
I discussed this a bit with @dougwilson at Node.js Interactive. Stats wise the project is already above the required amount so it's really up to them when they'd like to apply to "graduate." |
It's likely no longer necessary to keep this issue open. |
Last time I checked in with them they were already meeting the metrics we hold for exiting incubation. I think we're just waiting on Doug to send up a request :) |
Closing this issue. Any further progress can be found out via the express github organization |
This issue is intended as a low-volume announcement thread for folks wishing to hear updates on how Express is going in its moves to become a Node.js Foundation incubator project. We'll use this to explain what this all means, how it's structured and how it'll work and also how it will impact both Express and the existing technical activities of the Node.js Foundation.
At the time of writing, work is being done in #39 to prepare for a move into the incubator. During the last meeting of the TSC it was agreed that it's on track to become an incubator progress pending finalisation of that pull request. (Please don't comment in that pull request unless you have something constructive to add.)
