installing proxy environment

installing proxy on centos6.8

  • install centos6.8 with external IP
  • Installing Squid "yum install squid"
  • create backup "cp /etc/squid/squid.conf /etc/squid/squid.conf.default"
  • configure Squid: "vi /etc/squid/squid.conf" -- add the line: "acl <Name> src <internal ip> # Home IP http\_access allow client"
  • open a port in the FW: "iptables -A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 3128 -j ACCEPT"
  • restart the service: "service squid restart"
  • check that the squid is on: "chkconfig squid on"
  • connection log is under "/var/log/squid/access.log"

installing proxy on ubuntu

  • install squid for ubuntu:
apt-get install squid
  • run ifconfig and find you local-vnet address: (something like 10.2.4.0/255.255.255.0)
  • put the following in the file /etc/squid/squid.conf:
acl localnet src <local-vnet>

http_access allow localnet
http_access allow localhost

# And finally deny all other access to this proxy
http_access deny all
http_port 3128
  • restart the service: "service squid restart"

installing Noobaa

  • install noobaa
  • remove the external ip
  • add security rule for inbound and outbound "105 Any Internet Custom (Any/Any) Deny" a. for inbound: source = service tag , source service tag = internet.

installing windows for connecting to the noobaa UI

  • log into the internal nooba ip "//<ip>:8080"
  • try to add an activation code
  • add the centos (the proxy) internal ip as a proxy
  • add the 3128 as a port
