Hi @simoncozens, I am opening a new thread since the other one is closed, and I am not sure whether you receive notifications for closed cases. Below is my last comment from the other thread. Thanks in advance for your support.
Hi @simoncozens, I have been testing the temp version you pointed to, and it works well for most of the font typefaces, but Latin characters as well as a lot of symbols (punctuations, mathematical signs, etc.) are not supported for Light and Bold. In addition, the +/- glyph is not supported in any typeface of the Noto Sans Arabic. I have screenshots to share if needed. Is this supposed to be part of the upcoming update?
This is expected. Noto fonts come in two builds. The main build simply contains the Unicode codepoints to support a script - for Arabic, these would be just the Arabic characters. Noto fonts are meant to be used as part of a font fallback stack whereby missing characters (i.e. Latin characters) are provided by other fonts (usually other Noto fonts).
But I know that people want to sometimes use these fonts as "standalone" fonts in things like word processors or typesetting tools which don't support a fallback stack. To support that, there is also a "full" build which contains a standard "Google Fonts Latin core" subset (the Latin alphabet, numbers, together with various punctuations and symbols. These full builds are available on the notofonts dashboard at https://notofonts.github.io - please try using one of those instead.
