Just figured out, that the download source is not working for mpc:
https://github.com/obdev/CrossPack-AVR/blob/master/mkdist.sh#L470

as listed here:
http://www.multiprecision.org/mpc/download.html
the correct download link would be:
http://www.multiprecision.org/downloads/mpc-1.0.tar.gz
