The test case could be made significantly beefier at almost
zero cost by iterating over a set of "interesting" values,
rather than using only the one we got from the reproduction
case.

We should probably keep the value from the original test
case: it looks like the new values do not include one that
cannot be represented as an int32 value.

We should probably keep the value from the original test case:

It was Stdlib.Int32.min_int, I thought it would be clearer but if not - I'm happy to change it the explicit decimal representation.

it looks like the new values do not include one that cannot be represented as an int32 value.

It's intentional, if the top 32 bits are 0, it's guaranteed that after the round-trip bswap32 the top bits are still zero. In other cases, it is not always the case (depends on the bits and the target int size).
