Now that the new Index has rolled out, and the "read only" Index is in a separate code base from the Survey/Census site, there are some data display issues on the Census/Survey that should be addressed.

Please add more to this issue if you find some. Here are some to start:

  • The Number of Places/Number of Datasets/Number of Open Datasets/Percentage Open statistics are not year-aware. So, they now show data resulting from a mix of 2013 and 2014 entries.
  • The "Rank" shown on tables is really just an indexing of the entries in a list - it is not labeled rank explicitly. However, it is creating confusing when compared to the actual Index site which calculates rank correctly, as there is no cumulative effect (e.g.: if there are two places at rank 5, then no 6 would exist -the next rank is 7)
  • During an active submission period (like the one we just finished), the Survey us showing the current state of the data therein, but this is also a bit misleading as a place might no be finished review yet, for example.

I suggest linking to the "read-only-index" from http://global.census.okfn.org/
F.ex. in the green infobox at the top.
That way, those who find their way to the latter webpage can go to the index.
We've had a couple of cases where people (including myself) landed at the global.census-webpage, and there was nothing to indicate this wasn't the official reviewed version.
