Great idea for a tool! Was hoping to give it a good limit test but I got the following error:

Describe the bug
Rule Manager window not opening after installation. Error:

Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: key

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Installed Revit 2020 .msi
  2. Accepted addin in Revit to load
  3. Clicked Rule Manager command

Expected behavior
Rule Manager window opening

  • Revit Version [2020.1]
  • Regular DLL Version [e.g. 1.0.1]

Ok restarting Revit fixed the issue! It seems that running the installer while having Revit open might cause this issue?

Ok I got this fatal error now when I clicked New Rule in the Rule Manager (Revit 2020 and one BIM 360 document open):

Thanks for the detailed breakdown of the issue. The first error will be to do with having Revit open during install - the cache won't have saved the document yet!

The second one is very interesting. Shall we set up a debugging session to look at this together?

Hi,
I'm having a similar problem, so I thought I'd add my info here.
I'm using Revit 2021.1.2, and have installed your "Regular" add-in.
My problem is that Revit ultimately crashes when I try to create a new rule.
The steps to recreate the bug are:

  1. Open Revit, open Revit project.
  2. Select Rule Manager, click on "New Rule"
  3. I get a warning pop up box saying;
    Regular-issue-1
  4. Close warning box and try clicking "New Rule" again.
  5. Then get this warning
    Regular-issue-2

I have tried this out in 2 separate Revit projects with the same result as described above.

Hi cillianjohn,

Thanks for adding in - I will try on a fresh PC to see if I can imitate these issues. Should I be unable to reproduce, are you available for a debugging session in the near future?
