These patches allow the Hauppauge HDPVR to present 5.1 audio pass through to XBMC when coming from a Cable Box (the audio is passed through, so comes as an ATSC 5.1 stream).

you should call cVNSISession::ReadMessage(int timeout) with a higher timeout value if you want to increase the timeout, not change it's meaning by doing *5.

looks like the 0x81 value for AC3 is ATSC-only and that it's 0x80 for other types. correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I'm finding using google. you shouldn't change the behaviour for all streams in that case, but just for ATSC.

last, please squash those commits into one and send a pull request for that one patch. I won't include "Oops" commit messages in the main repo's history unless I make an Oops myself ;-)

thanks.

The issue is with the pvrinput hdpvr. It's a box which connects to component inputs and passthrough ac-3. Therefore it needs to handle whatever audio is passed through. In my case, the audio comes from a cable box, which is encoded atsc - qam. Hence the 0x81. 0x80 is used by comcast (wrongly) as a video codec, it's actually mpeg2 but is encoded wrong for half my channels..

I'd like to see some verification from someone using this on another network before pulling it and possibly break AC3 for others.

I did some searching for AC-3 Type 0x80.. And Google seems to point me to what I was running into before. 0x80 is a Video codec called Digicypher. (Although used extensively by cable companies in the US).

What system uses 0x80 for AC-3 audio? I thought it was normally 0x06?

I might have read that wrong, just did a quick search. Please submit a new (single) patch and don't change the meaning of "timeout" in ReadMessage()

thanks for looking into this issue.

Report from Android O tesing on O:

Subject: Native crash when trying to open Kodi addon
To: <developers@kodi.tv>
Cc: <androidsupport@kodi.tv>

Hello,
In preparation for the upcoming release of Android O, we've been
rigorously testing popular applications on Google Play, including ”Kodi"
[org.xbmc.kodi].
During testing, we uncovered a bug specific to your application running
on the Android O Developer Preview. Here are the details:

Step(s) to Reproduce:

    Install “Kodi” application from Play store

    Launch the application

    Tap Add-Ons from the menu

Expected Result(s):

    App should not crash when tapping Add-Ons

Observed Result(s):

    App crashes when tapping Add-Ons

Possible Root Cause(s):

    It looks like Kodi is fetching an icon from PackageManager and
calling this method: icon.getBitmap(). This used to work in N and below
because all Icons were png, in which they could be cast to
BitmapDrawable. However, starting in the next OS, there is no guarantee
icon drawable objects can automatically convert to BitmapDrawable.
There is also no guarantee that all of BitmapDrawable's methods (such as
getBitmap) will be readily available.
