Drop from GNOME: alacarte, gbrainy, tomboy
Add to GNOME: bijiben, deja-dup
ddd: recommends -> suggests
Drop a couple packages that no longer exist
Update gstreamer plugins

gbrainy seems to be forever stuck as a GNOME 2 app. It's no longer
a sensible default.
The UI is from the 90s; it should not be a default
Alacarte was dropped upstream a couple of years ago. It's part of MATE
now, not GNOME. Most of the buttons no longer make sense. It's also
really broken!
Tomboy should have been replaced by gnote ages ago, since gnote learned
how to work properly in GNOME 3, but Tomboy never did. Bijiben is a
tomboy/gnote replacement and can import notes from both.
This package no longer exists in GNOME 3.10
This package no longer exists in GNOME 3.8
Simple GNOME backup tool, much better than YaST's

Is this your personal thing or a gnome team thing?

Purely my own suggestions!

The important ones are:

  • Drop alacarte
  • Tomboy -> bijiben (or gnote)

epiphany-extensions and alternative-status-menu are already gone anyway; those are just cleaning up the patterns.

I'm fine with your cleanups, but changing the GNOME desktop should clearly go through the GNOME team first, so post it to their list and come back once you're green

No objections from my end...
We should go through the entire list anyway...
