Error message does not display on install step 3 #1939

Just downloaded latest master. The installation just halted on step 3 with no error messages. It turned out that the DB_PREFIX had capitalized letters in them. But i had to manually echo the error directly from the validate function in the php-file to find that out, so something is probably wrong there.

the error is suppressed
