Problem

  • From a contributor: The app could disallow Emoji’s in brand names @Pierre (teolemon)
  • we could put a strong red warning when using emojis in any text field (to let users know "we know")
  • I would prefer something slightly pedagogical (and non blocking for the very rare product with an actual emoji), since it allows to show malicious users that we 👀 see them.
I was also thinking we could have that in:
  • product_name
  • labels
  • ingredients

100%. Ideally, we should not allow the submission on the first attempt, but still allow the edit in case the emoji use is intended (though, there is no situation that I can think of where an emoji would legitimately be needed).

A message linking to a page that opens in a web browser discussing why data quality is important to the goal of the project may help lower the amount of malicious edits as discussed on slack.
