MPICH has support for setting processor binding settings via environment variables:

https://wiki.mpich.org/mpich/index.php/Using_the_Hydra_Process_Manager#Environment_Settings

However, it's not working in v3.2.1 - a patch is visible here:
http://git.mpich.org/mpich.git/commit/a131e534d26ea79ba028435b2a162e14b5c7764f

Include to support geopm test collateral which would benefit from being able to request core binding via environment variables.
