Dump Django XML serialisation?

From Hamish:

  • hmmm, how about adding a export data_data_dict.xml file button
somewhere? good for distributed backups :)

maybe I'm being thick, but I can't see where to find it. The idea was to get all tagging snippets and notes outputted into a single XML (or other ascii format) file, which could be the basis of reconstructing it somewhere else (restore after breakage, or parallel FOSS/CommonMap project site), or just have locally for grep'ing or doing something custom with expat etc.

?

thanks,
Hamish

Nevermind, it was me being thick: main user site --> Layers --> Export layers and tags.

Saves out of chromium as html instead of xml?

What do you mean by saves as html?

What do you mean by saves as html?

when I click on the "Export layers and tags" button, a save file dialog opens, and pre-seeded as the filename is
linz2osm-data_dict-export-2012-08-28-14-35-55.html

it would be nice if that could auto-extensionize itself as .xml instead.

I'd note that initially the root of the name is highlighted, and the .html is not, so it may be Chromium being overly helpful and appending that. In firefox it correctly uses the .xml extension.

shrug,

That's pretty weird. I can't replicate that in Chrome. The filename sent to the browser is definitely blah-blah-export-blah.xml. Which version/OS is your Chromium?

In any case, give it a go now...

now it ends with ".download". maybe a mime-type thing?

version 6.0.472.63~r59945-5+squeeze6 / debian stable

anyway, not a big deal, just odd.

@stephend I wonder if the ":" is messing it up?

Try again now. And yes, it's definitely a mime-type thing of some variety.

Nope same thing.

No prob in ubu/lenny with a newer chromium 18.0.1025.151r130497-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 or ubu/precise with a newer 18.0.1025.168r134367-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 version.

As long as others aren't seeing it, I'm happy to chalk this up to a bug in the old version of Chromium if you are.
