It looks like the only way to change language currently is:

(I might be wrong about this, feel free to correct).

This could be improved, aka replaced with a select-list which has full language names as well.

I think there are multiple tickets for language switching/selecting/displaying in Trac. I think we should at least try to keep this recent surge in development organized - I don't like mess in issue trackers as much as Tom :-)

If you want to stick to creating Github issues I suggest you look for related tickets in Trac, tag them and link to this tag from Github issue or maybe if it's easier - just list them here.

What do you think?

It certainly could be improved yes, although a UI that allowed the full power of the current system would be tricky.

One option is just to drop support for an ordered list of languages - the main down side of that would be that people whose preferred language is not currently available would not be automatically upgraded to it if we add support for it.

The main thing that we get complaints about however is not this, but is the inability to switch language when not logged in - the only real reason we haven't implemented that was a lack of screen real estate in the layout to fit in a language switcher control of some sort.

I'll open a ticket for that as well, then.
