When clicking on a (nominatim) search result, the OSM website used to immediately pan to the search result's location. Now, the map only does this after the full geometry of the result object has been loaded (which can take seconds or even minutes).

To reproduce try searching for something big like a country or so.

(Checked in Chromium 34 and Firefox 30.)

I don't see why that would be - the click handler (https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/blob/master/app/assets/javascripts/index/search.js#L68) still moves the view before starting to navigate to the object link.

Testing (in FF30) also appears to show it working for me - the map pans and then the object appears a while later.

That's not what I'm seeing. I searched for Germany, clicked on the result, waited for the sidebar to load, and map movement didn't happen until awhile after, presumably while the geometry was loading.

Well http://youtu.be/-aOiodeNxdU shows what I see. First it pans, then a while later the sidebar loads, then after another minute or so the boundary appears on the map.

It does not zoom when clicking directly on the blue link part. It zooms when clicking anywhere else in the result field.
