@andygunn While reviewing and updating the CCK content for the new site launch, I noted the following modules are referenced in the text of various pages, but these modules are not yet available. For each of these, if they are referenced in existing modules, the text "(coming soon)" was added.

  • Determine Installation Needs
  • Prep, Install and Finish
  • Make an Ethernet Cable
  • Plan Network Links
  • Secure the Network (Hardware and Software)
  • Troubleshoot for Node Hosts

Thanks @critzo for the heads up - some of these modules were re-named, and some of them are still pending. I will make changes where necessary to link to the existing ones (for instance, "Prep, Install and Finish" is now "Prep and Install Rooftop Nodes") when the Jekyll site is ready to be edited, etc. Or, if you would rather, we can sit down and make the edits sooner together.

Cool @andygunn . Either way is fine. If you want to make a note here as to each one's status, that would do. I can get the edits in before we launch and we can use edits like this in brownbag/trainings.

Just let me know which are renamed and which are still pending. Thanks!

Hey @critzo here are the notes on each doc:

  • Determine Installation Needs - This was intended to be a rooftop survey guide, but for now I would link it to Inventory the Neighborhood
  • Prep, Install and Finish - This is now Prep and Install Rooftop Nodes
  • Make an Ethernet Cable - We don't need to re-invent the wheel, I think we should advise people to just do a search engine lookup for "Make an Ethernet cable" instead.
  • Plan Network Links - forthcoming. This will likely be more of a rooftop / line of sight guide, but not available for a few months.
  • Secure the Network (Hardware and Software) - upcoming. This is still in Google Docs
  • Troubleshoot for Node Hosts - this is now Troubleshoot your wireless node

The updated links/text should be complete on the staging server. @andygunn would you mind checking through the CCK modules for this? If I missed anything let me know with a comment here.

@critzo
In Prep and Install Rooftop Nodes there is still a link to "Determine Installation Needs", which should direct to Inventory the Neighborhood

@critzo just a ping on my last comment - this section in Prep and Install Rooftop Nodes needs to be changed:

  1. Do a site assessment. An example site assessment guide is available in the Determine Installation Needs module. The guide includes a set of questions and things to look for, but cannot cover every possibility for installation sites.

to:

  1. Do some site assessments. Using the guidelines and examples in Inventory the Neighborhood to survey buildings and sites for wireless installations. The document includes a set of questions and things to look for, and is a good place to start.
