Taranis with a DIY DSM2 module (i.e., with a genuine Spektrum module cannibalized from a Spektrum DX4e) does NOT transmit when used with standard builds of v 2.0.10 or 2.0.11 of opentx-taranis-haptic-en as fetched by opentx companion.

However it transmits just fine with v 2.0.7 (opentx-taranis-haptic-en-2.0.7.bin).

How can I tell it's not transmitting rather than not binding? An RF monitor such as a kitchen microwave leak detector shows no power.

Would you check to download again your firmware, I think it should be ok. Was due to bugs in the new version on the compiler. I reverted to the 4.7.4

Bsongis,
I downloaded the new (9/11/2014) opentx-taranis-haptic-en-2.0.11.bin and found that it differs from the opentx-taranis-haptic-en-2.0.11.bin downloaded on 9/10/2014.

The new file works just fine! Thanks so much for addressing this issue!
