Splash Screen Time has no effect on Taranis X9D+

I noticed today that my splash screen time config doesn't seem to have any effect.
The splash screen always just stays for approximately half a second no matter which time I configure in the radio setup.

Tested with both the firmware splash screen and also custom splash screen.

TX: FrSky Taranis X9D+
OpenTX Companion Version: 2.3.15
OpenTX Verison: 2.3.15-otx (1004ef7)

I am still fairly new to the transmitter and OpenTX so I hope I am not missing something obvious.
Please let me know if I can supply any extra information that would help debugging the problem.

it's working nicely on my radio, same model and 2.3.15, unlike Edgetx which can't display any of my custom splash screens. i will be perhaps the last Opentx user ever, because i need my splash screen.

did you convert your pictures color, bit depth and size correctly
