The Oppia Android project has a lot of branches that are stale. They could either be because a PR was already merged for that branch (although now Github should automatically delete those), or if a branch is not being used for a while.
It would be a good idea for oppia bot to flag those branches (maybe branches that are x days old), notify the owner of the branch that the branch will be deleted in a few days if the branch is not actively used, and then delete the branch after those many days if the branch remains inactive.

@vinitamurthi Rather than going for stale branches can we have something where the bot will delete the branch as soon as it gets merged?

We do require the other as you mentioned, deleting the branch which is not in use for a while but I guess this can go with the closing of inactive PR and deleting the branch.

Oppia bot on web marks stale PRs and I think it closes them. My understanding was that there's a way to delete branches of merged/closed PRs in Github settings itself but maybe I am wrong

@vojtechjelinek and @jameesjohn Sir Is this open. Because this is a part of Contributing wiki for Gsoc 2021. If yes I would like to work on this one. I have already thought of flow while solving this. Could you assign me please. Thanks.

@Naman-1234 I think this needs a bit more careful planning, so please include a plan for this in your design doc for GSoC and you can handle it if you get accepted for GSoC.

@vojtechjelinek Sure Sir, I will definitely put it in my proposal and will definitely want to work on this. Thanks.

@vinitamurthi @anandwana001 -- is this still needed? There is a setting in the Oppia-Android repository that is already set:

I don't know when this was activated, but would it solve this issue?

You're right, we don't need this anymore. I'm closing this issue!
