If you tap on the small blue arrow with distance in the Place Information Page (when any object is selected and your current location is known), you'll see a full-screen arrow pointing to the selected object with distance to it.

Also showing an angle value may be useful in cases when a device is dying and a classic compass is available.

The current feature is hard to discover. I bet the majority of users are unaware of its existence.
