Upgrade Path for Caprover Installations - Redis UpgradeNote: Caprover does not provide an easy way to upgrade existing installations running an older version of Redis. The following steps outline a workaround to upgrade Redis for Caprover installations. It is recommended to follow the steps carefully and perform additional backups as a safety measure in case of data loss/corruption. This is overcomplex. We need to find a way to only upgrade the redis machine. |

@uhlhosting Caprover uses a modified version of Redis which has an authentication option. The recommendation from Caprover docs for something like Redis is to delete and re-create.

Hi, I have been trying to upgrade version 2.16 to 2.17/18 on Caprover at DigitalOccean. Am I missing any step to upgrade redis. By deleting all four components of Chatwoot and then reinstalling through one click App with same NAME, the newly created caprover should come with redis version 7.0.11, but it is not happening. Is there any other step which I am missing to upgrade redis version ? Thank you in advance. |

It might help some simpletons like me to add a note somewhere that after the Redis upgrade, the server as a whole probably needs to be rebooted. I couldn't get new messages coming in to save my life even though I followed instructions ... until I rebooted everything. ;-) |

Hey Community,
Chatwoot's latest release, version 2.17, is out! This release includes an upgraded Rails version 7, which requires a newer version of Redis (7+). If you have any issues after upgrading to v2.17, please make sure to upgrade your Redis version. Instances using managed Redis with version 7+ won't be affected.
To check your Redis version, run the following command or use the
super_admin
panel > instance health page:Update 27May2023
single quotes
.Update 18May2023
Note: If you are on a linux installation, get the latest cwctl(v2.3) and upgrade normally.
cwctl --upgrade
Caprover

Use the hotfix release tag v2.17.1 that fixed the issue.
Linux manual upgrade steps
To upgrade Redis, please follow these steps:
After upgrading Redis, restart Chatwoot using the following commands:
In addition, there is a new library required for image processing. Please install it by running:
If restarting Chatwoot doesn't resolve the issues, we recommend rebooting the instance.
Thank you for your continued support.
PS: If you have any questions or need more help, create an issue/discussion in GitHub or post on the community discord server.
