The description on a repository page often contains useful info, but the more files in the repository, the more likely it is that the description will be hidden behind scrolling. This is complicated by the fact that many files must be in the root directory. There are dozens of solutions to make sure that the description is guaranteed to catch your eye after opening the repository page, but I suggest one of them.
Do the same thing on the desktop version of the site that you did on the mobile one with a slight change: by default, if a user visits a repository for the first time, then the list of files should be shortened, and if the user clicked on "View all files", then this action is remembered as long as the cookies are stored (or until next change). Optionally, you can keep the button so that users can shrink or reveal the list at any time. This solution will also be better for the mobile version.
