The Passwords Authentication Method lets you authenticate end users using a secret string of characters that is known to the user only.
You can now build flows that support passwords, configure the password policy and define the reset password’s email’s look-and-feel. ** Passwords are a legacy way of authentication. Passwordless methods are better from a security and usability perspective.
📝 User testing utility for your E2E tests
When using authentication methods such as OTP / Magic Link / Enchanted Link, it can get cumbersome to automatically test those as part of the app’s testing process.
To close this loop - we released a utility with which you can create test users. Those special users are enabled to generate codes or links without the need of 3rd party messaging services.
You can create, fetch and delete test users - all part of your integration tests code! More information on how to do so, available in various SDK READMEs: Go, Python, Node
🤠 Django app support
Do you have a Django app that requires authentication? Descope’s got your back!
Using our dedicated Descope Django repository, you can integrate Descope’s authentication solution right into your Django app, and run flows from any place in your app.
Check out our new repo, and don’t forget to star it! ⭐
🌬️ Seamless custom OAuth account experience
When using a custom OAuth account, you can customize it to show your domain in the IdP’s OAuth authentication screen (’to continue to your-domain.com').
Notice that the domain needs to be registered for this option to work properly. Also, you need to contact Descope’s Developer Success Team so that they can complete the setup for you.
❌ Embargoed countries blocking
We now support the option to filter users arriving from embargoed and sanctioned countries during a flow.
Using a condition step, you can filter upon the geoLocation key and either choose specific countries or the predefined groups for Embargoed Countries and Sanctioned Countries (based on US EAR):
