Shouldn't news aggregators be removed? #417
-
On 2.2.0 news aggregators were supposed to be removed, however this document is still up. Might be worth telling that the RSS of many sites only give you a link or 3 paragraphs to then ask you to read the full article on their own website. Privacy in RSS is also not guaranteed as you can be tracked using techniques such as pixel tracking. I also don't see the case of suggesting Youtube RSS for individual channels considering we are already suggesting applications such as Newpipe which can do that and more. That was "Social News Aggregators" like reddit clones.
There can be, correct, we should probably elaborate on that. Generally though RSS clients don't allow for javascript or anything like that.
Only advantage is as a subscription service, you can easily determine when a new video for a subscribed feed is available. Main reason it was called "news aggregators" is because the Wikipedia article is also called that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_aggregator which includes Atom, JSON Feeds etc, which are not RSS technically. |
