We're thrilled to announce the latest release of Projectsveltos, v0.9.0! This update brings a range of exciting new features to the table, empowering you with even more control and flexibility over your managed clusters.
One of the most significant changes in this release is the expansion of resources, in the management cluster, available to templates . Previously, add-ons expressed as templates had access to a limited set of resources, including the CAPI Cluster instance, CAPI Cluster Infrastructure provider, and SveltosCluster instance. But now, Sveltos can fetch any resource from the management cluster, providing you with unprecedented control and flexibility when deploying resources in your managed clusters.
In addition to expanding resource availability, this release also introduces the ability for Sveltos to deploy resources directly in the management cluster. This feature enables you to dynamically create resources in the management cluster and use their values to instantiate add-ons in the managed cluster, streamlining the deployment process even further.
For instance, when deploying an autoscaler with ClusterAPI, you can instruct Sveltos to create a ServiceAccount in the management cluster, generate a kubeconfig associated with it, and then deploy the autoscaler in the managed cluster, passing it the newly generated kubeconfig to access the management cluster. This enables the autoscaler to scale up/down the nodes in the managed cluster using the ClusterAPI resources, resulting in a more efficient and streamlined deployment process.
We're excited about the possibilities that these new features offer and can't wait to see how they will improve your deployments with Projectsveltos. Give it a try and let us know your feedback!
