Opening explorer doesn't show "top games" from masters at this position #1841
Comments
Eleven-up version of Internet Explorer use |
Another position where you can reproduce: http://en.lichess.org/tmwx7n0x/black#9 This time it's in the lichess games DB; limit the games to 2000 and classical to reproduce. There's one game in the lichess database, but it doesn't show in that position. |
The second example is easier to verify, because it has exactly one game: No classical games in the selected rating range have reached this positition: http://de.lichess.org/tmwx7n0x/black#9 But Nc6 transposes to http://de.lichess.org/EfqZhaHl/black#10, which reaches the position after Nc6 in a different move order. I suspect the first example is similar. Added a reminder for myself (lichess-org/lila-openingexplorer#46). I have a vague idea how to make handling of transpositions more transparent. |
Ah ha! You can see in the previous position as well that nobody has played 11... Re8, but 12. Nbd2 transposes to another known position. So I think that's absolutely what's going on. I guess it's just a confusing UI then, really; I expected there to be "top games" if there were next positions in the database, but they're not quite the same thing. |
Closing, this can be handled in lichess-org/lila-openingexplorer#46 |
Oddly, it seems that at this position: http://en.lichess.org/Y8lqKyK3/white#22
the opening explorer doesn't show any "top games" for masters, though it does show the position occurring in 99 games.
Can you reproduce this? It must be a bug, right?
