Thank you. I don't think we need more than the latest 3.x version at this point, what do you think? (I'm surprised how quickly they moved from 3.0.0 to 3.1.0)

And I'm pondering whether to fully expose that, or whether to map released versions to the latest (eg, 300 -> 310). Keep existing clients working or break them explicitly

The situation with 2.x was different because they were stable minor versions, yet incompatible

I think you are right, we should only keep one 3.x version.
After reading the protobuf changelog it looks like that 3.1.0 is mostly a bug fix release
and my guess is because they added php support they released it as 3.1.0 instead of 3.0.3
