Improve repo description

Right now it's "osmand http://osmand.net". Something that would enable users to find this awesome project would be:

"Global Mobile Map Viewing & Navigation for Offline and Online OSM Maps on the Android"

Dan, you have a good point that our github repo would also benefit from a
little more complete or desciptive metadata. I had recently worked on our
web site, several wikis, and in some forums, but had not tackled github
just yet.

But I have the basic text blocks which would well sip into the search
crawlers.

Victor, do I need any special account to edit our project metadata on
github? I had never come across where to do this...

I don't think you need, just create and update readme.md this more than enough.

Victor, the README is separate from the repo description. To update the repo description, one needs to see an Edit link at https://github.com/osmandapp/Osmand, like in this screenshot for a repo I own:
