Permission error for samba share #225

Hi, I've been using osmc on my raspberry pi for some months now but suddenly had problems when trying to

  • copy files on an external drive, attached to the Pi, via samba share
  • removing folders via samba share or SSH

Reading from the drive however never seems to be a problem.
I'm not entirely sure what's exactly causing this and if the problems appeared after a osmc update or not. I've just noticed these errors at some point.

When these issues appear, restarting the pi seems to temporarily solve the problems.

I've read that maybe the auto mount, which is used in my case, could be the problem: https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/issues-with-hard-drive-mounting-deluged-permissions-to-write/4080/4

The drive is formatted via exFat. I know it would probably be better if it would be formatted via ext4 but still for some time it worked without any problems.

Do you have an idea what the issue could be or how to fix it? I'll be happy to provide more information if I can. Thanks!

I'm closing this as it seems to be a faulty hard drive.

I'm reopening this issue as it isn't the hard drive. Until now I've come accross several post in different forums where people report errors caused by the osmc auto mount. For example here: https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/issues-with-hard-drive-mounting-deluged-permissions-to-write/4080/4

Update: after reformatting the drive to ext4 the errors seem to have gone. Thanks for the hints on your forums!
