As much as I dislike FB, linking inactive channels (last posts in September 2020) is unlikely to be a good idea. Or should we link OSM controlled channels, even inactive - if current main one is proprietary?

That's a good point, they probably should be ordered by activity (I think that is how Bryan has it currently) -- however I think if a channel exists and has been used it should be included. Six months ago is actually fairly active for some of the smaller communities. Plus I think part of the goal is to let mappers know what exists, and maybe more folks will start to use some of the quieter channels if they are included. Maybe if they don't get an answer in one place they can try another.

I forgot to respond earlier, but everything @aawiseman and @matkoniecz said sounds good to me..

I agree that we should remove old sources that have no activity in years, or anything that returns a 404 not found .. But even something that only gets used a few times a year can be included here, and it might be helpful to those communities to get more exposure in tools like iD.

As for order, the resources can be ordered however local communities want them ordered. I think it's best to order resources higher that are more friendly or welcoming to new users (so we default order things like IRC lower than things like Facebook, only because casual mappers are more likely to engage that way).
