Original report (archived issue) by Carlos Agüero (Bitbucket: caguero, GitHub: caguero).

Some ideas:

  • Show WAM-V model, propellers spinning, collisions, inertias
  • Show current environments with all the different challenges
  • Show wind
  • Show waves
  • Show buoyancy
  • Show dynamics teleoperating
  • Show sensors with ROS integration (RViz)

  • set milestone to "0.2"

Building on Carlos' thoughts...

  • Would be interesting to demonstrate a few (2) different wave conditions: small and large waves. Nice to see the simulated camera/lidar in the situations since that is key for stressing the algorithms.

  • Would be nice to have a series of small, single topic videos, on different features. Then we stitch them together into a highlight reel. Will make it easier to update as we update/improve/add new features.

It is looking really great and I think ONR/AUVSI/RobotX will love it.

I agree more in depth topic videos similar to the video tutorials Brian did would be a great help to the teams.

For this particular release video (given the time constraints), I was thinking of a montage of short clips (10-15 seconds) demonstrating each new feature. These clips can have a some title text edited over them explaining what is being shown (ex: "Light buoy model") and perhaps some royalty free music in the background.

Does this work or are you looking for more of a screencast with voice narration?

Your plan sounds food to me. It they are small, feature specific clips we can swap them out as we continue to develop.

I think the main purpose is to describe all the new capabilities, models, etc.

Sounds like a modular video, I like the plan too 👍 .
