I find myself rarely looking at the list view. I prefer to open the first item and flick through the articles. With that in mind, it would be nice to be able to optionally disable the list view. My idea is that tapping on a feed or folder should take me straight to the first item.

Yes, but you have to go through the list view to get to it. I am proposing an option to skip this step.

Yeah, thats 2 clicks. What you really want is to stay in that list and also update with pull to refresh (#60)

True, I would like that feature (note who opened the issue.) However, even with refresh from article view, I think this could still be useful. It might also be easier to implement cleanly. (What happens when you refresh? Skip to newest article? Stay on current and have to reverse?)

IMO it makes no sense to create an extra setting just to avoid 2 clicks at the start of the app. As for the refresh, thats yet to be decided.

PS: please do not propose a feature but rather describe the exact problem that you have with the current implementation.

Ok, I'll rephrase.

Here is how I currently use the app:

  1. Open/switch to app, which gives me the list of feeds and folders
  2. Refresh
  3. Tap "All unread items" - list view
  4. Tap first item - article view
  5. Read/flip through articles from there
  6. Go back - list view
  7. Go back - feeds
  8. Refresh

For this usage, I find the current implementation to be inefficient, as the list view only gets in the way. To solve the problem, I am suggesting an option to disable the list view. It may only be one extra tap, but with everyday use the extra taps eventually add up to annoyance.

The ability to refresh from the article view would diminish the problem, but not eliminate it. If I want to check how many articles are still unread in a particular feed, I have to pass through the list view.

In addition, I frequently use the web interface, which does not currently have a list view. The option to disable the list view in the app would make the two interfaces more similar, and easier to switch between.

I like to have lots of options (KDE user) but I understand not wanting to overwhelm the user. I have no way of knowing whether this feature would be of use to enough people to make it worth including. I am just saying that it would improve my experience of the app.

I changed the concept of the app and I think this could do the trick for you. I hope you like the new concept.
