App crashes when cache is full

I have observed this issue a few times across different app and server versions.
The app does not seem to be able to free up space by deleting older cached files. Once the cache reaches its set limit, the app will crash every time it tries to update. The temporary solution is to either raise the cache limit, or clear the cache.
Let me know if there's any extra information I should provide.
