Well you could make it optional by en-/disabling it in the Settings. e.g. gReader offers such an option.

IMO the volume buttons should only be used for setting the volume. Swiping between the articles should be enough. You dont want to have featuritis in your app, it will make it harder to maintain and worse to setup. Find a good default and go with that IMO.

Well. I'm using gReader on my Nexus 7 and it is much easier to flip through articles with the volume rocker when using only one hand. But as I said before having it as an option would be sufficient.

I've implemented it and you can enable or disable it in the options. Version 0.3.6 (coming soon)
