I just downloaded VidCutter to give it a try on my Mac and it run, but there are a couple of flaws, first the app is not compatible with retina displays, it looks pixelated, the other is that when I drop a video or open using the load media button the app just hangs, there is not error on logs.

thats really weird re the handing...unfortuately, i have no mac on hand to be able to test this, which is why its also not optimised for retina displays either... all builds and testing i have made are via vmware virtual machines but i will be borrowing a macbook from a friend in a few days so i will have a chance then to get a retina friendly version properly tested and solve the handing issue too.
incase it helps, you can try installing libmpv or mpv using homebrew and then run it again. i think that would solve the hanging issue for you. let me know if you get a chance to test it, much appreciated...
