vi(m) is absolutely unusable (and other interactive programs)

Unfortunately, vi(m) is absolutely unusable. I couldn't even navigate through the file, insert space or use any commands in command mode.

I experienced similar problems with less or man programs. Is there a problem in finalterm with interactive shell programs (midnightcommander was pretty much the same)?
