aconcagua

About metrics:

Running in docker:

  • See config files section
docker network create --driver bridge metrics

docker run \
  --name=prometheus \
  -p 9090:9090 \
  --network metrics \
  -v ~/code/prometheus/prometheus.yml:/etc/prometheus/prometheus.yml \
  prom/prometheus

docker run \
  --name=grafana \
  -p 3000:3000 \
  --network metrics \
  grafana/grafana:latest
  • Head over localhost:3000 in your browser to open up grafana
  • User admin password admin
  • Add datasource because we created a user defined network in docker we now can connect to prometheus by its container name and port: prometheus:9090
  • Save and test (should show a green popup)
  • Create dashboard
  • Add panel
  • In the metrics text box start typing total_requests
  • Repeat

Running on your host machine:

prometheus --config.file="prometheus.yml"
