OT: Seems like #github commit hashes on the right in commit references have slashed 0s, while inline commit hashes do not.
edit: OSX/browser specific...Chrome on ubuntu is consistent...grrr

I did a quick vectorization of the normalization function-- brought the vbenchmark from ~800ms on my machine to ~36ms.
