Whenever a pop-up is supposed to appear to notify the user that the app is doing behind-the-scenes work (usually waiting for the API), nothing happens.

Compare https://gist.github.com/jsidew/4959534#file-kivy_progressbar_example-py with pull request 32 (#32) for reference on an initial working solution for loading screens/transitions to show up while processing in the background.
