A simple android app that shows your favorite movies. In this solution, the following needs to be demonstrated

Tech-stack

This project takes advantage of many popular libraries and tools of the Android ecosystem. Most of the libraries are in the stable version.

  • Kotlin + Coroutines - perform database queries operations.
  • Rxjava2 - perform network calls.
  • Glide - Image loading and caching.
  • Dagger 2 - dependency injection
  • Room Database - an abstraction layer over SQLite to allow fluent database access.
  • Jetpack
    • LiveData - notify views about database change
    • Lifecycle - perform action when lifecycle state changes
    • ViewModel - store and manage UI-related data in a lifecycle conscious way
  • Stetho - application debugging tool - available on debug build only!!!

  • MVVM - application level
  • Android Architecture components (ViewModel, LiveData, SafeArgs plugin)

  • Unit Tests (JUnit)

Getting started

There are a few ways to open this project.

Android Studio

1. Android Studio -> File -> New -> From Version control -> Git
2. Enter https://github.com/paulodhiambo/MovieApp.git into URL field

Command line + Android Studio

1. Run git clone https://github.com/paulodhiambo/MovieApp.git
2. Android Studio -> File -> Open
