# LANG=LC lpinfo --include-schemes usb -l -v
Device: uri = usb://Brother/HL-L5000D%20series?serial=ExxxxxJ6Nxxxxxx
        class = direct
        info = Brother HL-L5000D series
        make-and-model = Brother HL-L5000D series
        device-id = MFG:Brother;CMD:PJL,PCL,PCLXL;MDL:HL-L5000D series;CLS:PRINTER;CID:Brother Laser Type1;
        location =

However, I have not tested it thoroughly...

  • test page is printing
  • duplex is working (I used HL-L2360D as the basis)
  • using the HL-L2360D driver seems to slow down the printing: the printer prints one page and then stalls - even when just printing 600dpi text. However, the printserver is just a raspberry pi model B (yes, the old one...) Maybe this is the cuplrit: I noticed that ghostscript needs a lot of CPU time when printing. However, I switched to the HL-2270DW driver, which seems to be a bit faster. and the attribute line looks the same - not sure if this matters though?
  • I tried to print a pdf including images from a windows 10 machine, which resulted in "out of memory" on the printer, but the pdf prints fine when using the original brother driver (maybe this is a re-occurence of Brother HL-1210W; 1200HQ mode #40 ?)

edit: I replaced the old RPI with a model 4 B and now it prints immediately... Looks like the old hardware is not suited for larger prints :(
