--Issue Summary--

When I attempt to save my project, an error window pops up with the text:

Error Display
Title:
Description:

System Info
Pencil version: 0.5.4
Build ABI: x86_64-little_endian-llp64
Kernel: winnt 10.0.16299
Product name: Windows 10 (10.0)

I also cannot open up previous files of my animation. It will just say "Pencil cannot read this file." The files I am trying to open are .pclx files, by the way.

--Steps to reproduce--

I'm not sure how this happened. All I know is that when I tried to save it one time (I had saved it numerous times before with no issue), the error popped up. The only possible thing I can think of is when I made Pencil2D the default app for opening .pclx files, but even so, I can still open up other .pcl and .pclx files.

--System Information--

  • Pencil2D Version:

0.6.0

  • Operating System:

Windows 10

  • RAM Size:

8 GB

  • Graphics Tablet:

Wacom Intuos Draw

You are using an old version of Pencil2D. Please download the v0.6.0 version here:
http://pencil2d.github.io/download/

Let us know if the issue persists with this version.

EDIT: Sorry, I was confused by the version number in the error message (an issue which has since been fixed).

I actually downloaded Pencil2D from that website yesterday, and as can be seen in this screenshot, the application says that I'm using Version 0.6.0.

@AlyssaFaerie Please upload the file you can't open to dropbox or google drive so developers can take a look, most of the time it's difficult to asses why such behavior has occurred with words alone.

Thanks @AlyssaFaerie
I had a quick look at your file, a key part of your file is missing which causes the load failure. But luckily all your work is still in the file. Will get back to you once I fix it.

Ah, forget to say the frames are probably not on the right position due to the information lost.

I can also confirm this behavior. Pencil2D is not able to open an "old" PCLX project (File > Open...)

@Kaikogf Can't You open only one old PCLX or "all" PCLX?

@chchwy

Pencil2D can open all PCLX animations (from 2017), even an animation done with MyPaint version... but it is not able to open just one with 424MB size (all others are from 104KB to 33,7MB the most)

Version Pencil2D build 23Feb2018
win 8.1 x 64bits

@chchwy
Tested with Pencil2D v.15March2018: the issue related to not loading some animations is already fixed..
👍

The big, BIG thing here is that despite Pencil being able to load the 424MB's PCLX file, it cannot handle it when playing the animation: too much slow
computer with 32GB....

I have just realized that when I build PENCIL2D with Qt, Pencil2D was unable to load a previous animation, the one already uploaded above. This is the error: ("Pencil cannot read this file. If you want to import images, use the command import"), while with all other versions of Pencil2D (the nightly builds ready to download, 15March and 28March) it is working OK

Just a note
