I very often find myself searching for things that end in .nqp and I have seen quite a few Perl 6 modules that use the .pm6 extension. Are there other changes that need to be made to Ack to support these extensions?

The specifics of how to make the code change is the least of the concerns.

Do we need a --perl6 extension to distinguish from Perl?

Howdy,

I can see a --perl6 extension being useful, but as long as searching
for both perl 5 and perl 6 extensions is on by default, I don't have
too strong of an opinion.

For that matter, why wouldn't we make --nqp be its own type?

Sounds fine to me. If you want to go that route, it would be nice to
see a winxed type as well.

I have already tried to ack for things in nqp and winxed files in the
parrot.git repo many times, finally realizing that .nqp and .winxed
are ignored currently by ack, so I had to use -a.

Dude, it's only 2 months old. :-)

Or is that :-(

I've decided I don't want to add .nqp and .winxed because there are only a dozen users right now.
